Word Scramble Solver
Type the letters you have. Get every real word they can make — sorted, scored for Scrabble and Words With Friends, and filtered however you like.
Narrow the results
What this tool does
A word scramble solver takes a set of jumbled letters and finds every legitimate English word that can be built from them. This one checks a dictionary of roughly 231,000 words against your rack, including every plural and verb form, and returns the complete list rather than a sample of it.
It is built for the moment you are stuck: mid-game with a rack of awkward consonants, halfway through a newspaper jumble, or staring at a puzzle clue that will not resolve. Because it searches every subset of your letters, it finds the two-letter play that clears a corner just as reliably as the seven-letter bingo.
How it works
- Enter your lettersType up to 15 letters. Order does not matter — the solver rearranges them for you. Use a question mark for each blank tile.
- Press UnscrambleResults appear grouped by length, longest first, with the Scrabble and Words With Friends score for each word.
- Narrow it down if you need toOpen “Narrow the results” to filter by a starting letter, an ending, a letter sequence the word must contain, or an exact length. This is how you find a word that fits a specific gap on the board.
Getting more out of it
Playing a blank tile
Type ? for each blank. The solver treats it as any letter, so a rack of RTSNE? returns words a plain RTSNE never could. The scores shown already account for blanks being worth zero points, which matters: a word that looks high-scoring can be worth much less once a blank is doing the heavy lifting.
Finding a word that fits the board
The board rarely lets you play whatever you like. If there is an open E you need to build through, put it in the “Contains” box. If you are playing off a fixed prefix, use “Starts with”. Combine that with the exact-length filter and you get only words that will physically fit the space you are looking at.
Scrabble scores versus Words With Friends
The two games score letters differently, which is why every result shows both numbers. Words With Friends is kinder to J (10 points against Scrabble’s 8) and harsher on N and U. Sorting by “Best score” uses Scrabble values; if you are playing Words With Friends, scan the second number instead. Neither figure includes board bonuses like double-word squares.
Common words only
A full English dictionary contains a great many words that are technically valid and practically useless. Switch on “Common words only” to hide the obscure ones and see just the everyday vocabulary — useful when you are solving a newspaper jumble, which almost never uses an obscure word, and less useful in a tournament, where they are all fair game.
Word lists differ between games and between official dictionaries. A word here may not be accepted by every game or every tournament word list, so treat the results as candidates rather than a ruling.
Your letters stay on your device
The dictionary is downloaded to your browser once and cached. Every search after that runs locally, which is why results appear instantly and why nothing you type is ever sent to a server. There is no request to log, so there is no record of what you searched — including on our side.
Frequently asked questions
What is the longest word I can make from my letters?
Sort the results by length and the first word in the list is the longest one your letters can make. The solver checks every possible subset of your letters, so nothing is missed.
Does this work for Scrabble and Words With Friends?
Yes. Every result shows two numbers: its Scrabble score and its Words With Friends score, since the two games value letters differently. Enter your rack, then check board placement rules for your game.
How do I use a blank tile?
Type a question mark (?) for each blank. The solver treats it as any letter, and blanks score zero points, which is reflected in the scores shown next to each word.
Do I have to use all of my letters?
No. The solver returns every valid word that can be built from any subset of your letters, not just full-length anagrams. Use the exact-length filter if you only want words of one specific length.
How many letters can I enter?
Up to 15, which covers every standard word game rack plus blanks. Racks of 10 or more letters load an extra list of longer words automatically.
Are my letters sent anywhere?
No. The entire dictionary is downloaded to your browser and the search runs on your device. Nothing you type is transmitted, logged or stored on a server.
