PDF Merger
Combine several PDFs into one file, in the order you choose. Your documents are processed on your own device and never uploaded.
Order of the merged file
Pages are combined top to bottom. Use the arrows to move a document up or down.

Combining PDFs is one of those jobs that seems like it should take five seconds and usually doesn’t. Most free merge sites want your documents uploaded to their servers, cap you at two files, or stamp the result with a watermark unless you subscribe. This one does none of that: add your files, drag them into the order you want, and download a single combined PDF.
The merge happens in your browser using pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library served from this site. Your documents are read into your browser’s memory, combined there, and handed straight back to you. They are never transmitted anywhere — which matters a great deal when the files are contracts, medical records, bank statements or tax returns.
How to use it
- Add two or more PDFsDrag them onto the drop zone or click to browse. The page count of each one is read immediately.
- Put them in orderThe merged file follows the list from top to bottom. Use the up and down arrows to rearrange, or the × to drop a file.
- Name the outputWhatever you type becomes the downloaded file’s name.
- Merge and downloadEverything is combined into one document and offered as a normal download.
What is preserved in the merged file
Pages are copied whole — text stays selectable and searchable, embedded fonts come across, images keep their original resolution, and page sizes and orientations are preserved individually. A merged file containing a portrait A4 report and a landscape spreadsheet export will keep both exactly as they were.
Some things do not carry over. Interactive form fields, digital signatures, annotations and document-level bookmarks are not copied, because they belong to the structure of the original document rather than to its pages. If you need a signed document to stay valid, merge before signing, not after.
Password-protected PDFs
A PDF that requires a password to open cannot be merged here — the browser genuinely cannot read it without the password, and this tool does not ask for one. If you own the document, remove the password in whatever application you use to open it, then merge. Files with an owner password only (restricting printing or editing, but opening without a prompt) will usually merge fine.
Why merging in the browser matters
The documents people most often need to combine are exactly the documents they should be most careful about: signed agreements, invoices, scanned ID, insurance paperwork. Uploading those to an unfamiliar service means trusting a stranger’s retention policy, their storage security, and their word about deletion.
Here there is nothing to trust. Open your browser’s network tab and merge a file — you will see no upload request, because there is nowhere for one to go. Turning off your internet connection after the page loads is an even simpler test: the tool carries on working.
How large a file can it handle?
The limit is your own device’s memory rather than any server quota. In practice, 20 files of up to 100 MB each is comfortable on a normal laptop. Very large scanned documents — hundreds of megabytes of high-resolution page images — will be slower, because every page has to be held in memory while the new document is assembled.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?
No. The merge is performed by JavaScript running in your own browser, using the pdf-lib library served from this site. Your documents are never transmitted to a server. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads - the tool still works.
How many PDFs can I combine at once?
Up to 20 files of up to 100 MB each. These limits protect your browser's memory rather than any server capacity, since no server is involved in the merge.
Can I change the order of the documents?
Yes. Each file in the list has up and down arrows. The merged PDF follows the list from top to bottom, so whatever order you see is the order you get.
Can I merge a password-protected PDF?
Not if it needs a password to open - the browser cannot read the contents without it. Remove the password first in the app you normally use, then merge. PDFs with only an owner password, which open without a prompt, usually merge without trouble.
Will the merged file keep my text searchable?
Yes. Pages are copied whole, so text stays selectable and searchable, embedded fonts are carried over, and images keep their original resolution. Nothing is flattened into a picture.
What happens to form fields and signatures?
Interactive form fields, digital signatures, annotations and bookmarks are not carried into the merged document, because they attach to the original file's structure rather than to individual pages. Merge first, then sign.
Is the merged PDF watermarked?
No. There is no watermark, no signup, no page limit and no paid tier. The file you download contains only your own pages.
